to the satirical; works of horror, fantasy, and science
fiction, some of which may convey a self-deprecating or
humorous view of the genre.
We are looking for fiction, illustrations, articles, and
reviews of genre publications.
Keep in mind it is not our goal to attack or ridicule,
but to occasionally provide a light-hearted view of the
various genres and/or the followers they gather. At the

short fiction, and welcome those submissions as well.
Original works are preferred but reprints will be
considered.

cent per word plus one contributor copy.

Length: 1,500 to 8,000 words
Also seeking Flash Fiction in the following genres: Dark
Fantasy, Horror, Dark Science Fiction

'cyberpunk,' particularly when it speaks to the human
condition.
Submission Guidelines: http://www.bloodrosemag.com/guidelines.html

This print magazine accept "dark, gritty pulp
fiction" up to 8,000 words (prefers 2,000 - 4,000
words). Shorter stories have a greater chance of
acceptance.
Send me horror, westerns, crime fiction, sci-fi,
fantasy, historical fiction - I don't care as long as
it's well written and original. I am after visionary
stories with a powerful storyline and strong
characterization. I do not appreciate gratuitous sex and
violence. I will also not consider anything racist,
sexist, or which conveys a message of sex or cruelty to
animals or children.
They currently pay ¼ cent per word (AU) for original
work or one contributor's copy for reprints. Please read
guidelines in full before submitting.

Dark Krypt
http://www.darkkrypt.com
Dark Krypt is searching for strong fiction with solid
characters and plot that both scare and entertain. We
welcome a wide variety of horror tales including subtle
horror, psychological, supernatural, dark sci-fi, dark
fantasy, and cross-genre (and some experimental). Tales
are not restricted to serious horror, but may also be
satirical. Stories featuring vampires, werewolves, serial
killers, and the like, must have an original fresh twist
and be particularly terrifying, interesting, and/or
unusual to catch our attention and hold it. Rummage in
the darkest recesses of your mind and find out what
frightens you most -- even if it's funny. Have a good
time writing the story from the edge of your seat and
well have fun reading it from the edge of ours. A
classy webzine looking for horror and speculative
fiction. Pays $25 US and a PDF copy for stories under
7,500 words. Pay careful attention to the guidelines
before submitting.

about people (or things) out of place in their
surroundings, outsiders, social misfits, aliens, etc.
"Plausible (if occasionally insane) motives."

Parade
of Phantoms
http://www.paradeofphantoms.com
As our tagline suggests, Parade of Phantoms is
looking to buy and feature amazing, entertaining, haunting
fiction. Stories that linger with our audience long
after the first listen.
Our emphasis is on supernatural thrillers,
psychological thrillers, ghost stories and other
subgenres of horror, but we will also consider
stories with other speculative fiction influences, plus
suspense, mystery and crime fiction. Again, the
most essential elements are entertainment value and a
distinct, haunting quality. Stories sprinkled with
some comedy are welcome, so long as the humor does not
subvert the overall tone.
Please do not think that "haunting"
necessitates ghosts (though we are fond of a good ghost
story), or that horror means mindless carnage.
Stories can be very human and real, and entirely free of
gore, and still very effective. While we do
appreciate and will consider more aggressive stories
along with more subtle tales, we are not looking for
gratuitous violence, gratuitous sex, or any other
gratuitous gratuitousness*.Stories must be
between 1,500 and 5,000 words. Payment is $20 via
Paypal.
